Negativity affects your life on every level. It has the power to ruin relationships, decrease work performance, and increase stress levels. The good news is that you can fight it by changing your mindset.

Don’t Take It Personally

Most people act in a certain way based on their previous experiences and current circumstances. Perhaps someone took credit for your colleague’s work in the past, so now he doesn’t trust his team anymore. That doesn’t mean he has something against you. He simply doesn’t trust people in general.

Stop taking things personally. If someone is misjudging you, prove to them that they are wrong. Be kind and authentic rather than stressing over it.

Set Boundaries

No matter how hard you try, you’ll never be able to please everyone. On the contrary – people will always come up with new demands and take advantage of your kindness. That can undermine your self-esteem and keep you from focusing on your priorities.

Learn to say No and set clear boundaries. If someone reacts negatively or tries to hurt you, move on. That person isn’t worth your time or attention.

A true friend will understand that you have other things to do and that you’re not available around the clock.

Adopt a Positive Mindset

Be grateful for what you have and then seek ways to achieve more. Start a gratitude journal and write a few things every day. That will reinforce positive thinking patterns and reduce negativity.

Your positive attitude will also inspire others and strengthen your relationships. The more you focus on the good in your life, the more opportunities will arise.

Find Solutions, Not Problems

Most people tend to focus on the problems they are facing instead of actively seeking solutions. That results in feelings of guilt and dissatisfaction.

Whenever you have a problem, take the steps needed to solve it. The longer you wait, the more obstacles you’ll face along the way.

Stay away from people who make a drama out of everything. They’re only wasting your time and energy. Their negativity will affect you sooner or later.

Surround yourself with positivity. Build relationships with people who encourage and support you.

Remember that people don’t care that much about what you say or do. Focus on whatever makes you happy and stop feeding the negativity around you. Once you take these steps, you’ll be happier and see new opportunities that you’d otherwise have missed.

How to Overcome Laziness & Procrastination to Achieve Your Goals

Before we can get to the “how” of overcoming laziness and procrastination, we must first define each one as they are a little different from each other. Laziness is a state of mind where the individual just doesn’t care. Yes, there are things that s/he could do that need getting done, but the person lacks the focus and desire to accomplish these things.

Procrastination on the other hand is a reluctant behavior to do something. It differs from laziness in that it isn’t that the procrastinator doesn’t care, it is that something is mentally holding him or her back from doing it. It could be fear of failure, criticism, repercussions from suffering a past setback – something in their mind is telling them not to do it … at least for now. The other big difference between the two is that when we procrastinate, we end up feeling guilty about not doing whatever it is that we are avoiding doing. Not doing something do to laziness does not come with the guilt … because they just don’t care!

Now that we know the difference between laziness and procrastination, let’s look at a process to eliminate them. As we saw, they are inherently different, yet the same process can be used to eliminate both of them. It actually consists of four steps.

Step 1 – Identify the reason behind why you don’t want to do something.

Are you bored or are you using either as an avoidance mechanism, If so, why are you avoiding doing it, With laziness you could be bored and choose to spend your time doing something else. You could be avoiding doing something just because you don’t see the value of accomplishing that task.

With procrastination, you are most likely using it as an avoidance mechanism. The difference is you see the value of accomplishing the task at hand, but choose to accomplish it at a later time. You might feel the task is too large to accomplish right now. If that is the case, break it down into smaller and more manageable chunks. Remember the old adage “How do you eat an elephant, One bite at a time!” That is how to approach what seems to be unmanageable projects too. Whatever it is that is preventing you from accomplishing that task now needs to be identified before it can be overcome.

Step 2 – Identify the long-term consequences.

In this step, the procrastinator takes a look at what will happen if the task being delayed doesn’t get done, The lazy person should also look at long-term consequences, but not the result of not doing the task at hand so much as what laziness is doing to them in general. What opportunities are they missing out on in their life because of their laziness,

Step 3 – Set realistic and achievable goals.

With the procrastinator, the goal may be too lofty and because of the fear or failing, the person decides to avoid doing the task. In this case, the goal should be broken down into milestones or smaller goals and when one is achieved, s/he strives to continue with the next one eventually accomplishing the initial lofty goal in the process.

With laziness, it can be caused because the person is not challenged enough to want to do the task, so they just don’t do it. Setting a goal worth achieving in their eyes – something that challenges their talents – can be the catalyst to get them moving and working toward the goal.

Step 4 – Take immediate action.

Once the goal is set, work must start immediately without fail or delay. With either laziness or procrastination, doing something immediately is better than doing nothing. Slow and steady wins the race every time! In either case, once forward motion starts, inertia will tend to carry a person to accomplish more and more. As long as the focus and reward along the way and at the end is great enough to warrant the effort, laziness and procrastination can be overcome. If either laziness or procrastination plague you, use these four steps to help overcome it.

2. Managing (New Year) Resolutions

Resolutions and dreams aren’t insignificant. They expose where hidden gifts, passion and verve lie. Whether it’s to skate in the Olympic Games, sing in a chorus, redo your bath or do comedy, when your resolutions are clearly expressed; they’re much more likely to be accomplished.   What do you wish to do, see, achieve and go through? View a wide range of regions while you‘re pondering your life and your values, including your vocation, the arts, physical accomplishments, funds, education and community service.   How do you wish to feel? Do you wish to have a family? Produce a more substantial one? How would you wish those who love you most to depict you and the life you live? Would you like to alter your mentality or how you relate to individuals? Better a core relationship? Be honest.   Go over and re-prioritize your goals till they reflect the life you wish to live.

Determine your life goals

Make goals for ten years from now, five years, one year–and then one month. Now prioritize them. Break every goal into subtasks that have to be accomplished. For instance, if a financial goal is to be debt-free in 2 years, you may decide to arrange a budget, spend less than you bring in and refinance your mortgage to take down your monthly payment. Determine a time frame and priority for every subtask.

Utilize your daily to-do list

Do it as a means to accomplish even your life goals. Now that you’ve separated your goals into accomplishable tasks, integrate those tasks into your list and mark them off, one at a time.

Recap and re-prioritize your goals on a regular basis and when you suffer inevitable reversals. You might find that they alter over time, or that particular objectives get put on hold while you work at others.

Your goals might affect your family. You may do this work together. If you’ve kids, bring them into the loop and totally consider their thoughts. If an objective is to spend more time together as a household, and one answer is for you to work only part-time, ask loved ones what they’d be willing to give up to acquire more time with you. You may be surprised.

Commit to following through with your plan of action. You’ve already gone farther than most. Remain centered on the process and reward yourself– or at any rate notice–when something you’ve always wanted is really accomplished

Plan challenging objectives in the New Year

Look forward to a raise in your business figures to up to 15%, to more customers, further development of your site, launching new products or proposing fresh actions and actions. Capitalize on the end of the year evaluation and let it redefine your objectives and tell you clearly what you want and intend in the future.

Why not a qualifying course?

No one is stopping you to learn something new at all times. Settle a challenging plan like learning a new foreign language or personal development through different learning courses.

Ask for a promotion

Assure your talent is used at its level best and that you’re given the possibility to do as many things as you want. If you feel this isn’t going the way you want it would, then ask for the promotion that may bring you more responsibilities. And if you think you’ve earned it, a raise too.

Send positive vibrations

Two sad and old plants, a grey desk in the middle of a sad dĂ©cor … to the contrary, you’ll breathe easily once you have added some color spots here and there, like a colored painting, a plant with happy flowers or a decorative desk vase.

Redefine your colleagues

Seeing the same tired and bored faces day-after-day can be a turn off from work. It isn’t hard to change this; usually all it takes are simple gestures like going to work in the morning with warm pastry, preparing a hot chocolate, going for a lunch coffee for 10 minutes, listening for a few minutes to a happy song.

All these, along with an optimistic and positive mental attitude combined with a wish for more and better will definitely help you achieve your purposes!

Why Is It So Hard to Build Healthy Habits?

As a species, humans are resistant to change by nature. Because of that resistance, it takes us a while to break a bad habit or implement a new one – up to as long as a month. During this transition period, it is easy to fall back into our old ways, unless we consciously keep ourselves on track until our new change has taken hold as a habit.

In the case of healthy habits, not only can introducing them increase our resistance to disease now, but they also improve life later down the road. That means taking fewer prescribed drugs in the future, maintaining independent living longer and more longevity as we age. But the road to change can be bumpy if not done correctly.

Healthy Eating

Do you like food that is not good for you, Food that is high in calories and fat, If so, you are not alone… and it is not your fault! We are genetically engineered to gravitate toward that kind of food from our ancestral days. Hunting, gathering and exploring the surrounding area took a lot of energy and so food with a lot of calories and fat provided the energy.

But the food today is different than it was eons ago. Today processed and fast food lurks around on every corner, inviting you to come in … and while you are there, super-size everything making for even more fat and calories. But that isn’t the end of the story. Food is addictive. So, if you succumb to eating a lot of processed and fast food, that is what your body becomes accustomed to eating, what it prefers, and in fact, what it craves.

However, the opposite side of the coin is also true. If you start eating healthy, it too over time will become addictive also. The trick is to make small incremental changes over time and not a big change all at once. That way your body will slowly change and adapt to your new way of eating. What gets people into trouble and they fail is they try to make too much of a change in too short a time. Don’t quit eating bad food cold turkey – slowly start eating less bad food and more good food over the course of say a month.

Healthy Fitness

The same rationale of change also applies to exercising. At the start of each New Year, people make all-or-nothing commitments in the form resolutions where they are going to conquer the world fitness-wise – exercise five days a week, run a marathon in a month, etc. But after the first time or two in the gym, they are so sore they can hardly move. They take a few days to heal up and never return to the gym again.

Instead, they should have started slowly by doing some short easy workouts a day or two the first week and gradually increase the frequency, workout time and type of workout over the course of the first month.

Building healthy habits is a process of setting an attainable and realistic end goal with several milestones of mini-goals along the way. Be sure to reward yourself in a positive way after reaching each milestone as it provides the mental boost to continue forging ahead to the next one.

Listen Brainwaves to Activate Any State of Mind

Do Brainwave Shots Really Work? Separating Fact From Fiction

Can you imagine being able to listen to a 15-minute MP3 to turn on any mind state you want? 

For example, want to experience razor sharp focus? Just listen to an audio.

Want to feel happier? Listen to that audio. More brain power? Pop in that audio.

That’s what a new “brainwave entrainment” site claims you’ll be able to do. And, apparently, they have the science to back it up.

Today, I’m going to pull back the curtains and see if their claims are the real deal – or nothing but hot air.

My Brainwave Shots Review: A Scientific Answer to Self-Help?

The Premise:  Every one of your mind states or moods is marked by a distinct brainwave pattern.

If you’re feeling happy, there is a particular pattern. Feeling relaxed, that’s another pattern. Experiencing clarity and mental focus, still yet another.

The Promise:  Listen to an MP3 recording for just 15 minutes and you can instantly activate any desired mind state you want.

How It Works:  Brainwave Shots has apparently created a proprietary way to duplicate brainwave patterns using soundwaves.

So, supposedly, all you need to do is listen to one of their MP3s and your brain will automatically begin mimicking or mirroring the brainwave pattern of your desired mind state.

But, The Question Is: Do They Really Work?!

To find out the answer to this question, I had to try it out for myself.

So, I headed over to BrainwaveShots.com and got started. Nice site. Easy to navigate. Very professional.

The Pitch.  Before I chose my Brainwave Shots from the 35 currently offered, I watched a brief video presentation that explained the science behind the technology.

After watching the brief video, I selected my Brainwave Shot from the 35 options. These include:

  • Brain power. Learning. Focus.
  • Relaxation. Stress Relief.
  • Confidence. Happiness. Motivation.
  • Peak Performance. Energy. Pain relief. Success.

There’s even have a  party mood  Brainwave Shot!

I have a really full schedule at this time of year, so I went with their signature Energy Brainwave Shot.

Getting Started:  Within minutes, I had my shot and was ready to listen.

It was super relaxing and – if I’m being honest – the music was beautiful. After the 15 minutes were up, I actually didn’t want the session to end.

The Result:  Relaxing or not, I wondered if listening to a 15-minute MP3 could realistically change how I felt.

I opened my eyes after the short session was up and I felt more alive, clearer, and more energized than I had in quite some time.

Really? I don’t even know how to explain it. It was like I’d enjoyed a nice, long deep sleep, then followed it up with a HUGE cup of coffee (without any of the jittery side effects of caffeine).

It might just be placebo, but I actually felt younger too.

All it took was a few short minutes and I felt like a new person. It was actually pretty incredible.

My Conclusion:  I’m no scientist. But I know my own body. I also know the difference between feeling low and feeling fully energized.

The results of listening to a 15-minute MP3 were pretty impressive. 

In reviewing Brainwave Shots, I was ready to expose its faults and flaws, and poke a little fun at something that seemed a little “out there”.

But, honestly? It just didn’t work out that way. Brainwave Shots actually made a difference in the way I felt, exactly as they promised.

These guys managed to turn a skeptic into a fan. Highly recommended.

Disclaimer:  I did only try one shot, so I can’t speak for the other 34 of them.

UPDATE:  In the last week, I’ve used the Energy Shot twice more.  Each time I used the shot, the results were the same: more energy than I had just 15 minutes earlier. So, it does what it’s supposed to do. I can’t argue with that, and am about to start experimenting with more from their range.

Rating: 9.5/10.  Brainwave Shots are inexpensive, transformational, quick, and easy.

Pros:  Low price. Based on proven science. 365-day guarantee. Most importantly, these seem to actually work!

Cons:  No telephone support. Limited to 35 ‘shots’ in total.
